Identity & application security

SSO, OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, SAML where required, role-based access, tenant isolation, secret management, and audit trails. Apply least privilege and validate authorization on the server.

Authentication establishes who is calling. Authorization decides what that identity can do to a particular record. Check both the operation and the resource boundary on the server, including tenant ownership.

Follow one protected operation

  1. 01

    Identity

Validate the session or service credential.

  2. 02

    Resource

Load the record within the permitted tenant boundary.

  3. 03

    Policy

Check the role and the requested state transition.

  4. 04

    Audit

Record the result with an appropriate actor reference.

Why test cross-tenant access explicitly?

A valid user may still be forbidden from another organization’s records. Tests should attempt that access directly, including guessed identifiers and background operations, rather than relying on hidden interface controls.
